Not driving mate - it's a helluva long way :P Wishing you all the best and, as a second timer, I know you'll have a totally mad time!

does that mean you've driven over the first time you went? and yeah, it is a long way, 16 hours if non stop, probably gonna do a sleep over though

We'll be driving. Passed two years we have gone by other means so quite excited at the prospect of a road trip! Think we'll be heading down through Germany - Austria way. As far as toll prices go in Austria you need to get a pass for the motorways (I think it's around 8 euros for 10 days...), ditto for Slovenia (15 euros or so).

glad to hear that we are now officially not the only people going by road, although i'm a non driver, my partner has to do the entire journey....we will obviously stop at some point to sleep, do you guys have a game plan for rest breaks or just play it by ear?

We'll be attempting it over 4 days, a day to get down to Dover, next day we aim to get to Frankfurt or even as far as Stuttgart then the day after hopefully Salzburg, then Slovenia!
Two of us are sharing the driving, got a few campsites looked out (if only they had the outdoor access code in mainland europe! :P) insurance, breakdown cover etc. all sorted so all that's left to do is pack before we leave on Thursday morning! :D

We are also driving - this will be our 3rd time to MC.. we have flown and hired a campervan in Italy one year and also stayed in a hotel in Tolmin last year with a hire car.. this year we bring the Truck !! ...

We are coming from Leeds area to Dover and getting the ferry over on Friday evening... then going to either Stuttgart or Frankfurt...  trying to get down as far as possible... then hanging in Bavaria for a Sunday then droppin over the mt pass on Mon for the beach party !

 

We drove from Munich down last year and stopped over in Salzburg so quite familiar with the passes etc..

 

Four of us in the truck and a shed load of camping gear ! SORTED !
