TESTAMENT are true metal legends and their albums „The Legacy“ or „The New Order“ are among metal´s true diamonds! TESTAMENT and their records belong to the history of heavy metal and with “The Formation Of Damnation” they have delivered their sharpest, leanest, heaviest and most prophetic set of songs for two decades. The quintessential modern heavy metal band, the undisputedly enormous influence over a whole nu generation of aural aggressors. With “The Formation Of Damnation” Testament have deliciously served up ‘old school’ without the old, a crushingly heavy album without the weight of oppression, all crisp and lively like a ball-pin hammer-wielding maniac intent on bashing your brains to a pulp.
This year, the legends return with their brand new album – it´s considered the metal highlight 2012 and be sure, they have topped their last killer record! TESTAMENT rule, doubtlessly! And we are very happy to welcome them to this year´s METALCAMP!

Attention to all death-metal loving hobby-archeologists! If you intend to spend your holidays at this year’s METALCAMP festival, be aware of going on an adventurous expedition trough the great and dark empire of the pharaohs. This trip will be led by Mr. Death-Metal-Tourist-Guide Karl Sanders and his brute legion of NILE, who invite you to a special musical journey: Historical background meets high-technical, sophisticated death-steel. The Egyptologists produce massive attacks with rigorous precision that blow up your heads in the name of the cursed gods. The most important thing for NILE is to create a complex and exact sound, which should be comparable with the architecture of the pyramids. Quickly they always reach the point: Everything’s about brutal music with high measure of cleverness. Definitely, this music makes Anubis feel being a puppy!

27 years of grindcore ultra-violence, 27 years of being one of the hardest working, hardest touring bands on this miserable planet, NAPALM DEATH’s conviction, energy and belief in spontaneoust, outspoken yet extreme music is far from being watered down. “Utilitarian“ (release date Feb 24), the band’s 14th studio album marks no exception – as long as this is a world gone wrong, NAPALM DEATH will be utilizing their artistic arsenal to attack those in charge, no matter if their fanaticism stems from a political, religious or simply greedy motivation.
Once again, NAPALM DEATH’s concerns are realised through intense, devastatingly brutal songs that venture into groovier, neckbreaking mid-tempo passages to allow the listener to take a breath before vicious blast beats pummel you out of existence.
While NAPALM DEATH is a prominent example on how to put words into action and has taken part in several benefit-based activities in the past, vocalist Mark “Barney” Greenway is also engaged in fighting for musicians’ rights through the Musician’s Union (a UK-based trade union) and strives for fairness for music followers via the same organisation.
Renowned for their ceaseless touring activities and stellar live performances, following the album’s release NAPALM DEATH will be promoting their new record live worldwide - remaining at the helm of today’s extreme music scene and humbly yet ferociously solidifying their legendary status once again!

This Quebec, Canada-based death metal band, formed by Luc Lemay (vocals), Sylvain Marcoux (guitar), Eric Giguere (bass) and Stephane Provencher (drums), promised great things on their 1991 debut, „Considered Dead“, which featured guest spots from the Death guitarist James Murphy and Cannibal Corpse vocalist Chris Barnes.
The Roadrunner Records label had signed the band on the strength of the impressive „...And Then Comes Lividity“ demo of 1990. However, „The Erosion Of Sanity“ failed to make an impact in the midst of the black metal explosion of 1993 and band and label parted ways. GORGUTS then fell silent for five years, and many fans assumed that they had parted ways permanently, but singer Lemay returned in 1998 with a new line-up (guitarist Steeve Hurdle, bass player Steve Cloutier and drummer Patrick Robert), a new contract with the Olympic label and Obscura, which lived up to its title by exploring progressive, almost avant garde areas to an uncertain response. „From Wisdom To Hate“, featuring new guitarist Daniel Mongrain, was similarly difficult, but Gorguts are nothing if not persevering.
In the summer of 2008 Luc decided to do a new record to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band. The idea for the new line-up came together after the suggestion from longtime partner in crime, Steeve Hurdle. One evening after a NEGATIVA rehearsal, Steeve brought up the fact that 2009 being the 20th anniversary of GORGUTS, it would be nice to give to the fans a new record, which is expected to be released 2012!
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome this legend to the METALCAMP line-up 2012!

Since the 80es SODOM are considered one of the most important german bands in thrash metal and also play an important role in the world´s metal business. This three-headed thrash monster still shows those youngsters out there how to do it real good, still killing it!
SODOM are more than welcome to devastate METALCAMP´s stage 2012, and they´ll surely do so with their full-blown attack of old-school thrash metal! Beware!

ELUVEITIE
Swiss folk-metal-maniacs ELUVEITIE started a new, aspiring and flourishing era of heathen metal – “New Wave Of Folk Metal” - with their output “Spirit”, released in 2006, and turned everything upside down within the whole scene. Influenced by Celtic music and mysticism, this pagan circle reached to unite two total different styles. ELUVEITIE play traditional, authentic folk combined with modern melodic death metal in the classical Göteborg-vein. Nevertheless the band also concentrates on topics and stories behind their songs, which are about the daily life and the spirituality of the Helvetic Celtic tribe, like they did on their latest masterpiece “Everything Remains (As It Never Was)”. They are about to release a brand new studio album in 2012 so expect the unexpected and look forward to a great show of ELUVEITIE at METALCAMP!
Local bands:
AVVEN
When you hear the mighty crunch of the guitars, and when the primeval sound of folk instruments fills your ears, you know you must be on board of the band Avven. The band, whose main source of inspiration lies in the world of fantasy, is one of the greatest surprises of the Slovenian music production of the day. Avven look for their expression in folk music of many cultures, creating a mosaic of emotions, and manage to remain themselves while drawing from the folk heritage. In the year of 2006 they surprised the public with the release of their first studio album Panta Rhei. It was well received by the listeners and critics alike. In 2007 they took part in the international Orpheum Newcomer music competition in Graz (AT), and came fourth in the group of 100s of bands from across Central and Southern Europe. After a couple of months break from the media and concerts, Avven released their long-awaited second album Kastalija, which took them to new heights. The fantasy world that is reflected in their music and lyrics is best experienced through their live performances that are a real visual treat, so do not miss this epic celebration at Metalcamp 2012!
BREZNO
It was the year of 2007 when somewhere deep in the woods, from under the strong roots of mighty oaks and beeches in the dead of the cold winter night the tranquillity was disturbed by an unusual happening. Something awoke. The hidden became visible... What many forgot emerged - at first dull and indistinct, then increasingly magnificent and impressive... From the dark depths of the forest the lost song rose once more... Brezno (The Abyss) was born. The beginning of the group foretold a period which connected the members of the band under the same ideology and offered them unforgettable moments of making music with roots, music which flows through their veins - the Folk Metal. In the past year the band started to spread their music among people in concerts throughout Slovenia and nearby countries. At the same time they also recorded several songs which can be found on their introductory CD called Viharnik. Band members search for inspiration in tradition of ancestors and narratives of old cultures. Through their lyrics they try to convey their values, beliefs and their view of a person and his/hers connection to nature. Celebrate the cult that is Brezno together with them at Metalcamp 2012!
DOOMED
Doomed was born after Mraz left MORA in March of 2010 and decided to follow his true passion, Death Metal. After not being able to find any members he decided to work on a new band alone and started writing songs for Doomed. In early June 2010, Uros Erste on guitar and Galena Jordanova on bass joined. Recording for their first EP: "From The Crypt" started in late June 2010 and was released on the 13th of September 2010. Matej Stefanic joined as a session drummer later on. Matej left in the beginning of October due to his student duties and Gorazd Ledinek joined Doomed as a permanent member. A series of very successful gigs followed. After the Metal Camp 2011 festival gig, Doomed decided to part with their drummer Gorazd due to the differences in interest. And so Ziga Zupanc stepped into his place. The Band is currently preparing for the upcoming gigs and writing new material for their upcoming LP. Make sure to check out this death metal thunderstorm!

“Music is everything for me! I’ve been through two divorces and a whole world of shit because of music, but still it is the most important thing in the world to me.” Words of a most influential and popular artist cannot be clearer. The Swedish musician and producer Peter Tägtgren always reached to break through the chains by his open-minded and ambitious approach to music. As masterbrain of PAIN, he has transformed a side-project into a band and a band into a solid institution, which influenced the metal-fans’ feeling for progressive sounds by innovative sound-experiments. Now the master himself, who also represents the band-leader of the cult-death metallers of Hypocrisy, comes up with a brand new PAIN-opus titled “You Only Live Twice”. At your headbanger’s holidays you’ll get the opportunity to experience the true PAIN in the vein of Peter Tägtgren and his companions.
Be sure, for the upcoming year of 2012 the state of emergency at METALCAMP is definitely preprogrammed: Panzer-battallion SABATON already prepares for a new military operation code-named “Hell Over Paradise“, which won’t give the metal-fans time for relaxing and sun-bathing, but which will take them on a trip through past battles. During the last years the Swedish heroes of war collected innumerable medals of success and finally occupy the top of the whole European metal-scene. SABATON’s bombastic power-metal-hymns, which are characterized by hard guitar-sounds, vivid melodies and epochal choirs, obviously represent the true sound of glory. With songs like “Uprising”, “Ghost Division”, “Attero Dominatus” or “Primo Victoria” these metal-warriors awake hot-blooded emotions and dreadful imaginations of war in all of us, always setting our teeth on edge. Look forward to heavy-metal-dynamite SABATON, which will detonate at your headbanger’s holidays 2012.
