Hi there. This will be our 3rd time.. In the past we have flown to Trieste and hired a campervan at the airport - flown to Munich and hired a car and driven down ( stayed in a hotel ) this year we are driving from Yorkshire and camping... Soo ya want to know what it is like......? Firstly if you are flying and camping do not fill your bag with stuff that you think you will need as everything is in the village of Tolmin at half the cost... IE Suntan lotion - toothpaste - shower gel etc... So leave all that behind and keep your luggage allowance for things  you will need.

The weather is unpredicatable to say the least and when it rains it is biblical... please be prepared or your experience will be miserable.... on the upside the sun is unbelievably hot and the height of the day it is unbearable at times - thank god the the cold water of the Soca ! This is really really cold btw !! It hurts to get in kinda cold !

The festival on the whole is fantastic - small and about the size of  BOA without all the things that go on.. you will not find HOARDS of shops but there is a strip of them and they are all good.  There will be no entertainment persay like you see at other fesivals ( fun fairs - comedy tents - other things ) but they do have a beach bar that is to die for - strippers - cocktail bar - rock/metal dj on the beach by the river Soca... beautiful setting and if you are about on the Monday come down the beach party :)

The campsites are great fun and not like the UK - they are pretty quiet at night to be honest which is quite amusing in its self. None of the campsites are far to the arena - furthest away is about a 10 min walk. The shops are right outside the campsite gates ( over the road ) 1 proper supermarket selling all you will need ( meat - fruit - veg - tins ) then there is a kinda cash and carry type place that sells lots of things including some camping equipment ( chairs - bbqs ) and then a really cheap type of supermarket that ha

Hey There, I've been to numerous open air festivals in Europe, I am not British tho..Just been living in UK for 4 years. We are going to Metalcamp from Liverpool by plane as there is no direct flights to Ljubljana, we will fly to Venice and then take a train..

Never driven... we almost did this year but decided it would just be too cramped for too long (we were planning a 16 person minibus, with gear)! Food is good, theres decent food on the festival site and some nice little cafes and resturants in town. I presume you meant cost, not coast... as there may be a beach, but theres no coast, lol... cost is pretty good, everything is cheaper than here in the UK. And it is pretty child friendly... there are a lot of drunk people wandering around at times, but you will get no trouble from them and the kids will love it. Hope that helps somewhat. If you have any more questions feel free to ask :)

Not sure of the food there but there is a cafe/restaurant thing 5 mins away and there are also 2 supermarkets there too.
We drove there from the uk last year, stopped over in Strasburg to break up the journey so took us around 36 hours but was worth it!
